APT1: Exposing One of China’s Cyber Espionage Units

Mandiant, an American cybersecurity firm, released this report to address the growing thread of cyber espionage in China. Beginning in 2004, Mandiant monitored breaches in cybersecurity by agents referred to as the “Advanced Persistent Threat” or APT for many organizations across the globe. In 2010, the involvement of the Chinese government was unclear in these actions, but a report in 2013 amended that to confirm that the Chinese government endorsed these actors. This seventy-four page report discusses Mandiant’s information on the APT in China in detail, complete with appendices A-H.
