Registration Open for Sixth Annual Community College Cyber Summit

Community Colleges are changing with the times to teach cybersecurity education. Not only are they using more outlets to include minorities, but also focusing on workforce development, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) job roles, and evidence-based measures of effectiveness. Jump on the bandwagon and get ahead with other schools at the sixth annual Community College Cyber Summit (3CS), July 30 to Aug. 1, in Bossier/Shreveport, Louisiana.

3CS is the only national academic conference tailored to cybersecurity education at community colleges. With the continuous growth of cybersecurity jobs and the shortage of qualified workers to fill those positions, community colleges have become the best response to educate not only students, but also educators. 3CS is helping these institutions of higher learning raise their capability maturity level as well as develop new programs, program components, labs, courses, practices, and methods of instruction.

In addition to a 3CS Job Fair and workshops on Secure Scripting, Cybersecurity Skills Journal, Hands on Cryptography, and Intro to IBM’s QRadar, 3CS is hosting two pre-conference events for girls: IBM CyberDay4Girls and Girl Scout Cyber Badge, both all day on July 29. They will expose girls to opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math in fun and exciting ways.

“The success of 3CS stems from the participants—attendees/presenters and students who value the contributions of community colleges to cybersecurity education. The faculty and students appreciate that they are valued and, as a result, they enthusiastically make valuable contributions by presenting and actively participating,” said Dr. Bob Spear, 3CS Chair.

Registration is now open for 3CS, which will take place at Bossier Parish Community College. For more information or to register, visit
